Windansea: Life. Death. Resurrection
Windansea is not only a legendary surf spot, it helped move youth culture. Notable mostly for a great surfing wave, many great surfers, including Butch “Mr Pipeline” Van Artsdalen, and Endless Summer star, Mike Hynson. Others, like Woody Brown are less famous, but more influential. Brown, who first surfed Windansea in 1937 went on to set a world record as a glider pilot. He is also credited with the invention of the catamaran. While the waves tell one story, the beach reveals another. Tales persist of Al “Tiny Brain” Thomas driving his friend’s car into the ocean to make an artificial reef. The infamous “Mac Meda Destruction Company” is an entire book in itself. Stories are told first hand from those who were there. This hard cover, coffee table volume is gorgeously illustrated by some of the world’s top surf photographers. All books arrive signed by the author.
